Check the employer and intermediary before travelling, insist on a written contract in a language you understand, never surrender identity documents, leave copies and contact details with a trusted person and keep resources for an independent return. In danger, contact the local police, the nearest Bulgarian embassy or consulate and call 112 in an emergency.
